Group 26
THE WELLNESS GARDEN

In this live project we will partner up with Chris Bailkoski and Chi Emecheta from PROFORMA ,LongSight Art Space The project entails mapping the Crowcroft Park, working with the local community to revitalise the green space, and proposing ideas to improve the region's fragile environment by introducing orchards. Activities for the initiative will involve modelling the chosen portion of the park as well as community organisation meetings and workshops. The project would conclude with an interactive session and an exhibition at the Longsight Art Space. In addition to providing an opportunity to develop mapping and surveying abilities, the project would be a great way to engage with the neighbourhood. DAY 1 - VISIT THE WELLNESS GARDEN

At the beginning of the day, we met our new friends and introduced ourselves to each other. Afterwards, at the Longsight art gallery, we discussed the project and our plans with the client. The team was divided into a model group and a proposal group according to the students’ interests. The undergraduates were free to explore the site and use the skills they had learned to measure the garden. Looking forward to coming up with some exciting ideas tomorrow......

Development of design concepts based on yesterday's site visit and conversations with clients, and pre-production of model making.
Posted 10 May 2023 16:56
During the development of the concept, in addition to a small discussion before noon, the group also discussed the ideas with each other spontaneously.
Posted 10 May 2023 16:59
In the afternoon, we had a group discussion on the design options according to the client's needs and budget, and divided into groups to prepare for tomorrow's design improvement in team work.
Posted 10 May 2023 17:03
After the development of the concept, in addition to a small discussion before noon, the group discussed and analysed on different shrubs and plants that can be planted in conjunction to each other to achieve a calming garden. The selection of the plants were accurately chosen evaluation climatic conditions and detailed plans were realised.

Contextual Model was developed according to the site analysis and dimensions extracted using Lidar, Google Earth, Digimaps and onsite site measurements using conventional tape measure. This way we aimed to extract precise dimensions and implemented them using 1:250 model using lasercut mdf sheets and pine wood at B.15 workshop.

DAY 4 - DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

While some group members continued to work on the site model, the remainder of the group focused on further developing schemes for the Wellness Garden. Individual discussions were then carried on in order to develop proposals which could be presented to the collaborators.
Posted 13 May 2023 14:11
Today was the last day of the model-making day and we glued the site model to the base to make it easier to move the model. The group also deepened the design of the previously sketched plan and hand-drew the renderings.
Posted 15 May 2023 17:17
The design proposal also includes a reflection on the development of the garden afterward. The different seasons present different colors and different visual landscapes. There is also some structural thinking about the landscape installations.
Posted 15 May 2023 17:21
DAY 6:
Today we are presenting three design proposals and models to our collaborators and discussing designs and exhibition execution directions.
Posted 17 May 2023 15:14
DAY 7: PREPARE FOR THE EXHIBITION

Based on yesterday's discussions with our collaborators, we further develop our design proposals and refine the model in preparation for tomorrow's exhibition. Some of the team members will hand out flyers tomorrow and the rest will set up the exhibition.
