EMPOWERING ELLESMERE

We are MSA Group 08 and we will be collaborating with the Canal Trust and MAAP Studios to intervene in the design of the Ellesmere Yard, located in Shropshire, England. The project aims to strengthen the connection between the land, the water and the individual on a macro level - in connection with Ellesmere Town as well as on a micro level - catering to the existing heritage of the site, thereby empowering Ellesmere. The design will revolve around slow architecture, accessibility, connectivity, maintaining a circular economy and enhancing the ecology through landscape architecture.

Izzat Hakimi BAG
Aim: To lay emphasis on the value of the site by re-establishing the connection it has with its users and with its town (Ellesmere Town).

Approach: The project explores the process of slow architecture with a focus on landscape and circular economy.

Strategy: Other design factors to consider include accessibility to all, involving local businesses, being sustainable and preserving the heritage and the ecology while still making them accessible.

Our project site is located along the Llangollen canal, lining the Birch road at Ellesmere, North Shropshire.

Such a tranquil hidden town worth to be explored and empowering for the betterment of the community, mother nature and the future.

She is an urban developer who works with Media And Arts Partnership (MAAP) Studios. She has been creatively involved with place-making projects and her focus lies on integrating people, places and ecology. She has led multiple community-led developments similar to her involvement at the Ellesmere yards.
