Group 35

We aim to curate and provide a series of workshops, talks, and information to help inform and direct the students from Manchester Health Academy into considering higher education as a possible route to take in the future! The course will consist of a week’s worth of sessions for the High School students in which we will relay over some of the tips and tricks we have accumulated through our own studies and routes within (landscape) architecture and culminate in an online exhibition of their work.

I have jumped straight into my Masters after graduating from the MSA last year! I am interested in heritage and adopting a community based design which decentralises the role of the architect.

BA Architecture

Since commencing the course back in 2017 I have always been fond of the application of natural elements within a building. We as architects need to take a more conscious approach when designing to provide public space and reclaim land which has been neglected and underappreciated. Reclaiming public space should be on everyone's agenda.

I consider myself to be energetic and amicable with skills ranging from digital software to drawing and model making. I hope to pass on my knowledge that I have acquired over the three years of being at the MSA. I hope to be an effective team member taking up an advisory role to assist in curating the best possible experience for both parties.

By informing the next generation on the endless amount of opportunities higher education has to offer, we hope we can inspire young adults that they have the power to change society for themselves.

Using architecture we can show one of the potential avenues that university can offer, our group can also show the amazing friendships that university can create from all different backgrounds, it's not just about studying

Manchester Health Academy is a secondary school located in Wythenshawe. Their aim is to provide their students with the knowledge and skills they need to reach ‘high aspirations'. They have strong connections with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust as well as Manchester City Council, comprised of a diverse community of students, the school is at the forefront of secondary school education, which endorses a wide range of important curriculum to choose from.

We plan to enrich the young adult's approach to courses which they would not be familiar with, specifically design-related. Carving a new and exciting path for students to take whilst their aspirations continue to expand and develop.

Visual Communication.
Students will be tasked to prepare a booklet which will aim to introduce teenagers to the field of architecture. This will require the exercise of visual communication to capture the students interests and engage in the subject.

Digital Software.
There will be an opportunity to learn/develop digital skills with the use of software such as Indesign, illustrator, photoshop, Rhino and Autocad. As students create modelling kits and mini projects.

The opportunity to practice presentation skills will also be practiced as students will aim to engage teenagers with the possibility of higher education through online platforms such as Zoom.

Model Making.
Students will also be testing and developing modelling kits choosing the materials whilst also creating examples to show how designs can be tested through the process modelling.
