Hello World! I am ObviousLee, though some people do still call me by my real name, Lee Jia Yi. Right now, I am on my way to finishing my Part 2 in well, MSA. Being fresh in an European country has not only widened my perspective towards the architectural education system and industry practices, but also continues to allow me to expose to culture on the other side of the world.
After our first meeting with Mossley Community Centre's representatives, through MSA Live, I am absolutely eager to work on the place with the community to continue and expand the positive impacts the centre has on its community. I love people. I enjoy architecture. Therefore, this is the sweet spot!
Hi, I’m Awaan and I’m a BA1 Architecture student. I’m particularly interested in model-making and modularity in designs.
I’m excited to be part of this MSA Live Project with the Sale Festival because it offers real-world experience and a chance to see how design can help bring people together. Through this project, I’m looking forward to developing ideas collaboratively and learning from the process.
For our second meeting, the group came together with the initial introductions behind us, allowing the session to be both focused and productive. We spent time organising our roles within the group and discussing possible outcomes for the project, which helped clarify our direction moving forward. We also worked collaboratively on the poster, using this as a practical way to align our ideas and refine our approach. By the end of the meeting, we had a clear plan for our next steps. As a group, we worked particularly well together, and it is looking very promising that this strong collaboration will continue throughout the module.
Hi, I’m Harmonie, a first-year MArch student. I completed my BA in Architecture in Bristol and gained Part 1 experience across Belgium and Spain. I’m interested in the multifaceted stories of architecture and how it can spark conversation as a reflection of both history and contemporary society. I’m particularly drawn to the many ways architecture can be represented and exhibited, which is why I’m excited to be part of the MSA Live project for the Sale Festival. This project is a great opportunity to creatively explore how collaboration can be used to represent and celebrate the history of Sale.
Heya! I’m Kiki, I’m an undergraduate BA1 student, so I’m still kinda new to everything about architecture. I love learning new art mediums, both physical and digital - animation, illustration and crochet being current interests.
I’m currently enjoying the year so far, and I’m especially looking forward to the exciting events happening during MSA Live! The Sale Festival is a perfect chance to communicate and collaborate with different people, learning a part of Manchester’s community along the way.
Hi, My name is Hanaah and I'm a first year architecture student. I'm really looking forward to working with and learning from my amazing group. I hope working with Mossley community centre will strengthen my teamwork and communication skills aswell contribute positively to the community!!
My name is Pablo, and I am currently a first-year MArch student at MSA. Originally from Mexico, I have been completing my architectural education in the UK, which has allowed me to develop both an international perspective and a strong understanding of the UK design context.
Through MSA Live, I am particularly keen to strengthen my skills in teamwork, communication, and leadership. Collaborating with Mossley Community Centre presents an exciting opportunity to apply these skills in a meaningful way, contributing positively to the local community through architecture.
Hi!
I'm Zena, a first year M.Arch student, currently in Praxis atelier. I find interest in humanitarian and social architecture, exploring how spaces can affect behaviour and create positive change within communities. I'm excited to explore aspects of cultural and social design throughout MSA live, and the opportunities it will allow us to engage with the communities in Sale throughout their annual festival.
Hi! I’m Shuyi LIU, an MA student in Architecture and Adaptive Reuse.
I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of space and art—I play piano, sing in choirs, and love exploring different forms of visual storytelling through film and photography.
I chose the MSA Live Project for the Sale Festival because I wanted to step outside the traditional design studio and get directly involved in shaping experiences through event curation. I’m excited by the idea of using creative, cross-disciplinary formats to support the festival, and I’m really looking forward to working closely with a team—learning from others, contributing ideas, and being part of something built together.
Hey!
I'm Rodrigo, an MA student in Architecture and Adaptive Reuse. I'm Peruvian, and I completed my undergraduate degree in Architecture back home, graduating in 2022. I have a strong interest in the revitalisation of heritage spaces, but it was my fascination with different forms of artistic representation that led me to choose the MSA Live Project for the Sale Festival. I'm excited to invest our time in creating a great experience for everyone and to learn new things throughout the process.
Hi my name is Treasure and I am a first year Architecture undergraduate student! I am from Hong Kong and only just arrived to Manchester last September. Being exposed to a brand new environment is thrilling as I am able to experience an entirely new architectural environment and engage in new perspectives.
I am looking forward to enhancing the Mossley Community Centre as I believe architecture is a powerful tool to bring people together. By working collaboratively with our clients and prioritising community voice, I hope to contribute to creating an inclusive and impactful environment.
Today marks our first meeting at the MTC! Firstly, the group decided that from today on, we are ‘The Mobeelity Hubs’, combining the bee-like movements and connection of Manchester’s transportation, mascot and the brief. To warm up our brains, we started with completing our group contract and signing it together before sharing our ideas on our poster design draft, presenting our own interpretations of the brief. Seeing each other’s poster design will inspire the final product, elevating the poster with new and combined perspectives. Moving on to the core of our project, we discussed the relevance and key points of each person’s suggested precedent studies, reflecting each one against the brief. After getting into the design headspace, we started to discuss the advantages and disadvantages and decided to bring our focus to Oldham road as our site amongst other potential corridor locations.
With this, the first official meeting ended and we all set of to individually research the site to then merge our knowledge together next meeting.
Last week, we held our first group meeting together with our collaborator, Steve Hodgkinson. This initial session was an opportunity to get to know one another, align our expectations, and begin familiarising ourselves with the project. Steve introduced the brief, which was intentionally open-ended, giving us a great deal of creative freedom in how we choose to interpret and develop it. We left the meeting with a shared understanding of the project’s potential and agreed to reconvene the following week to bring forward ideas and begin shaping a clear direction collaboratively.
The team gathered for their first meeting, which began with brief introductions and an insight into the stages each of us was at in our architectural journeys. It was interesting to see just how varied our specialities are, and it provided an opportunity to understand the diverse array of skills each of us could bring to the project. We then delved into the brief, gaining a broad understanding of the requirements, the site and our collaborator: The Common Land Collective (CLC). With many questions still in the air as to how we could best approach the project, we broke into pairs to gather more information on a specific aspect of the project to later discuss, share and build a common understanding of the project's potential. In the hour before our meeting with our collaborator, we discussed potential team names, poster design, and questions we had for the CLC.
During our meeting with the CLC, we were given a presentation by two members of the organisation which covered the details of the site, the projected timeline, and their ambitions. We were all thoroughly engaged and met them with equal enthusiasm, asking many questions that gave us a clearer vision for the project. Finally, we attended to the last matter of business: the team name. After thorough consideration and a tough voting campaign, we landed on the name The Eco Dens Collective.
Overall, the first meeting was a rousing success and gave us the running start we needed. We look forward to the project's future and hope the sessions moving forward continue this momentum to achieve our collective ambitions.

Group 22 met for the first time for an introductory session and a deeply productive debrief of our task for the following weeks. After introducing ourselves and getting acquainted, we put forth the skills we thought we could bring to the group, breaking down the dynamics among BA1, M.Arch1, and MAAR and opening everyone up to the discussion. We exchanged interpretations of the brief, Ideas for the poster, idea on how to run the project, and formulated the questions to ask our collaborator later. We briefly exchanged views on roles and assigned current tasks, including who would design the poster, how it would be done, and what to do during the meeting with the collaborator. Later on in the day, we met with our collaborators from the Silk Museum in Macclesfield. Our discussion was very insightful; all our questions about outputs and the site itself were cleared up, and a date was set to visit the site next week. Our first meeting was definitely a success. We left with a clearer idea of the project, a group chat and drive, and a great group dynamic.
I’m Saif. I’m a fifth-year part-time Masters student and I also work as an Architectural Assistant at SimpsonHaugh. I’m really looking forward to working with the team and working with the Year 4s at Oswald Road Primary School to make it a memorable experience for them!
Following our meeting with our collaborator, Group 27 took a visit to Wythenshawe Park to visit Blossom Charity. We were welcomed by Kay and her colleague John, who both gave us an in depth tour of the various facilities at the horticultural centre. The charity is home to a wide range of plants, and supports people facing disadvantages in life by offering them the opportunity to help maintain these plants. As well as this, Blossom offers cooking and food-growing classes. These activities help people by building their confidence, providing them with company, and improving their health. Kay has outlined that Blossom needs environmentally friendly and cost effective renovation ideas for their greenhouses and classrooms, and it is now up to us to help her achieve this. The site visit inspired us, and we are all very excited to get started!
Today marked our first time each other as well as the collaborator. We hit the ground running at the first instance to the point that two icebreaker sessions in, we didn’t need them anymore as we were comfortable with one another to share our experiences as well as assess our strengths and weaknesses to harness further down the line.
We also worked on understanding each other’s schedules, establishing communication, points of contact and slowly the group went through the norming stage with quite ease even though we didn’t know each other 3 hours before the session.
As we went through trying to understand the brief and its requirements, we were also brainstorming some ideas for project names that could fulfil the key principles that the Life Leisure stands for. Seeing that the project name needed to be incorporated into the poster, there was a separate group established that would be working to create the design with development sketch ideas provided by all members of the team.
After meeting with the Life Leisure collaborators, our first stance with the principles involving the words Accessible, vibrant, community, greenery and cross generation has made it abundantly clear.
And therefore I introduce to you, Active Axis and its members that will be working on it. Check next blog pages!

Session 1 – Meet the team & the Collaborators
Hello! We are Group 10. We are collaborating with Hyde Young People’s Enterprise (HYPE) where we are working to create a youth sports complex for the Hyde Community. We are looking forward to getting stuck into this project and exploring our creative ideas to bring a positive change to the community.
In our first session today, we began with an icebreaker! We got to know one another and learnt about our background, architectural interests, hobbies and skills that can contribute to this project. We quickly discovered that putting our skills together will allow us to perform to high standards and create a collaborative working environment for the duration of this project.
Meet the team!
Hello we are group 25 and we are working with Oswald Primary School to collaborate with the Year 4 students, giving them the opportunity to share their ideas and creativity in the design of a new nursery built as an extension to their school.
