Course: BA 1 Architecture

Personal Paragraph:
Hello, I am Cristina, a BA 1 Architecture student in the MSA. My passion for Architecture started from an early age, observing all the buildings surrounding me and understanding the different architectural types. My experience working in an architectural firm for a short period of time helped me to understand the real purpose and methodology of how to work and communicate your ideas, as an architect.

My deep interest in Architecture; sketching, model making, in combination with my love for volunteering and getting involved in the community, will provide me with skills, drive and enthusiasm for this project. I believe architecture has the responsibility to respond sensitively to its users. Through volunteering and community engagement, I have developed empathy and active listening skills, which I hope will allow me to meaningfully engage with Hyde and understand the needs of the children we are designing for.

I am really excited for our collaboration with Hyde for this project. I have always wanted to design sports facilities and communal spaces, in addition, I’m happy to work with the children and try to meet their needs. I’m inspired by Hyde’s cause and my goal is to meet their needs and wants for this project. Collaborating with MArch students presents a valuable opportunity to observe different design approaches and levels of critical thinking. I am eager to contribute actively while expanding my understanding of the design process through interdisciplinary teamwork. I am particularly interested in how architecture can create inclusive and empowering environments, especially within community and youth-focused projects such as this one.
