Our project reimagines Victoria Hall in Glossop as an affordable, flexible arts and community hub that supports local creatives and young people while strengthening long-term viability. Building on the renewed activity generated by the Market Hall, we propose a clear spatial strategy that activates both the ground floor and basement. A lightweight modular partition system enables the main hall to shift between exhibitions, performances, rehearsals, and markets, while improved vertical circulation and wayfinding draw visitors down to a reconfigured basement of studios and workshop spaces. These adaptable interventions support varied hire options, phased growth, and diversified income streams aligned with the Friends of Victoria Hall’s 10-year Business Plan. By combining low-impact design with operational flexibility, we balance innovation with respect for the building’s historic character, while strengthening community engagement and long-term sustainability.
