UNDER ONE ROOF

Under One Roof Since 1865, Mossley Community Centre has been serving the community through a multitude of avenues; from schools to youth centres to today’s community centre which houses a range of activities that are catered for all walks of life, big and small communities, under one roof. Under One Roof, our approach towards the refurbishment will be guided on 5 principles that are maneuverability, multi-generational, future-proofing, sustainability and community-oriented. Focusing on the toilet upgrade, sustainable and technological fabric restoration, and storage room activation, we strive to improve the user-experience of the space, and to scale up the positive impacts towards the neighborhoods.

Hi my name is Treasure and I am a first year Architecture undergraduate student! I am from Hong Kong and only just arrived to Manchester last September. Being exposed to a brand new environment is thrilling as I am able to experience an entirely new architectural environment and engage in new perspectives.

I am looking forward to enhancing the Mossley Community Centre as I believe architecture is a powerful tool to bring people together. By working collaboratively with our clients and prioritising community voice, I hope to contribute to creating an inclusive and impactful environment.

Hello,

My name is Pablo, and I am currently a first-year MArch student at MSA. Originally from Mexico, I have been completing my architectural education in the UK, which has allowed me to develop both an international perspective and a strong understanding of the UK design context.

Through MSA Live, I am particularly keen to strengthen my skills in teamwork, communication, and leadership. Collaborating with Mossley Community Centre presents an exciting opportunity to apply these skills in a meaningful way, contributing positively to the local community through architecture.

Hello World! I am ObviousLee, though some people do still call me by my real name, Lee Jia Yi. Right now, I am on my way to finishing my Part 2 in well, MSA. Being fresh in an European country has not only widened my perspective towards the architectural education system and industry practices, but also continues to allow me to expose to culture on the other side of the world.

After our first meeting with Mossley Community Centre's representatives, through MSA Live, I am absolutely eager to work on the place with the community to continue and expand the positive impacts the centre has on its community. I love people. I enjoy architecture. Therefore, this is the sweet spot!

My name is Ning Zhang and I am student in Architecture and Adaptive Reuse. For me, architectural design is not just lines on a drawing board; it is a practice that can transform community life. I am very much looking forward to stepping out of the classroom and applying my professional knowledge to solve real-world problems in a genuine collaboration with the Mosley Community Center. In this process, I hope to learn and grow together with outstanding partners and create meaningful changes.

Hey, I'm Meg! I am a masters student on the course who has a passion for community orientated projects that take hands on approaches to scheme developments and feedback. I particularly enjoy adaptive reuse projects, as I believe we should be using what we have, than to create something new.

18 Feb 2026 @ Mossley Community Centre

/ Site Visit
MArch 1 students visited Mossley Community Centre to spend time with the community and hear their thoughts, stories, and hopes for the space. Through conversations and careful observation, we began to understand how the centre is used and what truly matters to its users. We also took measurements and documented the existing conditions to support the next stage of our design development.
