Name: Nur Iman Sofiah Nur Aziz
Course & Atelier : M.Arch, And Atelier
Skills that you are confident in: Rhino, Enscape, Adobe Suite & Model Making
What made you choose …More
the Possibility Machine project: I chose the Possibility Machine project because its name embodies endless creativity and exploration. I love model-making (as seen in my profile with me posing with my 1:50 PPS Models!) and now I want to experience designing a real-life machine using recyclable materials that engages with the community to create something interactive and impactful.

Day 1 : Morning
Today we became a team of 16, welcoming talented BA students into the world of the possibility
machine. We started the day with introductions, before learning some …More
interesting facts (and some
lies) about each other during our icebreaker breaker game. This was followed by a meeting with
our very enthusiastic client Joseph Schneider, who gave a background on the project, after which
we set our brief and the agenda for the next 2 weeks. The morning saw initial engagements with
creative concepts surrounding the possibility machine, in which we explored our own visions of
this. Gathering into groups we brainstormed ideas, looking at precedents and starting to think
about our own interventions for the project. It was fantastic to see key themes of, sustainability,
play and materiality being considered within this design process

Day 1: Afternoon
This afternoon, we split into 2 groups, looking to create 2 different conceptual solutions for the
possibility machine. For this we we used collages to visualise …More
design producing a final mood
board for each. After extensive discussion and iteration we ended the day by presenting these
ideas to each other, giving constructive feedback. The ideas produced, fed into the creative
concept of ‘the impossibility machine’ as proposed by our client, showing what we would design
with unlimited constraints. These ideas are to be presented to the client the next morning.

Day 2: Morning
Today began with each group presenting their conceptual visions of the (im)Possibility Machine to our client, Joseph Schneider. These presentations showcased a rich …More
variety of ideas—from playful, interactive interventions to thought-provoking spatial concepts—all imagined with no constraints. The energy in the room was electric as each team articulated their creative processes and the narratives behind their work. Joseph responded with enthusiasm and insightful feedback, helping us understand which elements aligned closely with the project’s direction and where refinement was needed. His input challenged us to think more critically about how to bridge ambition with purpose.

Day 2: Afternoon
With the morning’s feedback fresh in mind, the focus shifted toward grounded design. Each group returned to their concepts and began to reshape them, now layering …More
in the practical requirements of the brief : roof canopy, stability and table tops. What began as imaginative explorations began to evolve into tangible proposals. Sketching, collaging, digital modelling, and technical conversations took over the space as we worked toward solutions that not only inspired but also worked. By the end of the day, each team had established a clear design direction that is distinct, yet rooted in the client’s needs. These refined ideas mark the first step in transforming the impossible into the possible. Tomorrow, the students will focus on creating scaled models at 1:10 scale and begin their preparations for the building workshop on Day 4!

Final Day – Pizza, Reflection, and Celebration!
As the build phase wrapped up and the Possibility Machine stood proudly completed, we ended MSA Live on a well-earned high. With …More
tools down and the final touches in place, we gathered one last time as a full team and not around models or materials, but around boxes of pizza!
Using the remainder of our project budget, we treated the BA students to a celebratory lunch as a small token of appreciation for their incredible energy, creativity, and commitment over the past two weeks. Between bites and laughter, we reflected on everything we had achieved together, from wild early concepts to fully realised, community-ready design.
This moment of pause gave us time to acknowledge the collaboration, resilience, and shared effort that powered the project forward. Thank you to every student, tutor, and contributor who helped bring the Possibility Machine to life. What a journey!
