GARDEN OF TRANQUILITY

Garden of Tranquillity aims to transform an underutilised garden space within the grounds of Sale High School into a welcoming and tranquil environment for students. During lunchtime visits, discussions with pupils revealed that this space holds great potential for enhancing student well-being. Many students expressed a desire to develop the area into a peaceful retreat where they can relax and connect with nature. To help bring this vision to life, we will be working in collaboration with Trafford Youth Council, ensuring that the younger generation has a strong voice in shaping the design and development of the space. By working together, we aim to create a meaningful and lasting improvement to the school environment. Through this project, students will have the opportunity to see their ideas unfold through detailed drawings, physical and digital models, and renders, helping them visualise and work towards a space they can enjoy for years to come.

Name: Burhan Touheed Khan
Age: 23
Atelier: CPU [Ai]
Course: MArch 1

My skills in Architecture mainly include detailed 3D Modelling and Rendering but I also have started to enjoy scripting since joining my Atelier.

I also have a strong personal interest in Space Architecture and have done some work in it as well, designing lunar space habitats and space stations :)

I’ve always had an interest in art, I started drawing anime and characters in high school which progressed to sketching architecture and eventually 3D modelling. I believe in the use of technology and high tech buildings that incorporate a lot of nature. I love architectural styles shown in movies like Lord of the Rings, Dune, Bladerunner and more. This is because I like the idea of architecture that expresses styles and has a vision of the world.

Name: Dayan Touheed Khan
Age: 23
Atelier: CPU [Ai]
Course: MArch 1

My skills are mainly in detailed 3D rhino modelling as well as visual rendering editing in softwares like D5 Render and Photoshop. I also have an interest in Space Architecture for which I’ve had the opportunity to work on concepts for Space Habitats and Space Stations.

My interest in Architecture developed from my passion in digital art, which developed into using those skills for sketching designs and building concepts from looking at the architectures in games and futuristic films like Dune and Bladerunner and fantasy like Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

I believe in creating architecture that innovates and blends future technologies and nature, facilitating constant progression and hope to accomplish this through my design work.

Hi, I'm Yuwei Liu!

Currently I'm studying MA Architecture and Adaptive Reuse. I studied architecture at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou city, Chinese mainland and earned my bachelor's degree, and I'm capable of 3D Modeling, rendering and Photoshop. In the fourth year of my undergraduate degree, I had a short working experience as an assistant architect in a construction company for one month.

Being able to study at MSA has been an exciting experience, with buildings of beautiful heritage and industrial history in Manchester and other cities in the UK, it all provides me with a lot of immediate inspiration for learning Adaptive Reuse.

I am looking forward to working with the Trafford Youth Engagement Group, as I will benefit from the opportunity to work with people from different professional and cultural backgrounds.

Garden of Tranquillity

The space is located at the heart of Sale High School, making it a central and accessible area for all students. Its location presents a unique opportunity to create a space that truly reflects the needs and desires of the students, ensuring it becomes a valued part of their daily school experience.

Garden of Tranquillity is all about listening to the students' voices and allowing them to create their environment. By engaging with pupils via scheduled workshops to gather their ideas, we aim to design a space that promotes well-being, creativity and a sense of ownership. The transformation of the space will not only provide a peaceful retreat but also demonstrate the importance of student-led initiatives in improving their school community.

As part of this project, we will be creating physical and digital models, renders, and detailed drawings to bring the students’ ideas to life. These designs will help shape the final transformation of the space, ensuring that it truly reflects the needs and desires of the students. If you are interested in physical model-making, digital modelling, and detailed drawings and want to be part of making a real change, this is a perfect opportunity to get involved. By joining this group, you will have the chance to contribute your ideas, develop new skills, and play a key role in creating a space that benefits a whole school community. If you want to help shape the future of this space, we’d love for you to be part of this project!

Hi,

I am Ahmed Darouache and I studied my Bachelors at Liverpool John Moores University. I am in the Non-Standard Habitats Atelier.

Modelling and 3D visuals are my passion and I want to make more out of it after my master degree.

As I am originally from Morocco, I have a strong interest in Islamic Architecture and how patterns works. I know that materials used in hot climate aren’t the same in the cold climate and I am interested in how these functions.

With these skills and passion, I like to vision how the architecture works in today’s modern world.
