I'm particularly interested in cultural and theoretical narratives and how they can enhance and engage with a place. Studying in Continuity has consolidated my interests in contextual architecture, heritage and history.

For my undergrad, I studied at the University of Nottingham, focusing on crafting stories through architecture and deeply linking the building to its users or communities.

After completing my undergrad, I worked for DLG Architects based in Leeds particpating in a mix of large scale commercial and industrial projects. Following this, I worked at HG2 Architects; a small practice located in Harrogate with an eye for contextual detail with a contemporary approach.

I chose this MSA Live project due to the rich history of Lindow Moss and its expansive ecology at risk due to Peat extraction. The collaborators at Groundworks are enthusiastic and are strongly engaged in the project. I look forward to the two weeks in which we'll venture to the site and have fun creating outputs Groundworks can use to increase exposure of Lindow Moss

Day 2 - Site Visit

On our second day of action week we ventured to site by train - splitting into three teams we each focused on three key areas of research to allow the team to consolidate the desktop research. We explored key areas of conservation, architectural sites, finding key moments of interest within the conservation area.

We took plenty of photos, collected samples and small artefacts to inspire the further design progress.

Day 3 - Establishing the Narrative

We worked within our assigned groups today, focusing on material research, precedent and SWOT analysis.

This allowed us to establish the route of the Architecture Trail and key sites for the gateway proposal.

Day 4 - Material Testing

Today the Material Testing team crafted samples to test the QR codes for the plaques, ensuring they would be durable, easy to produce and sustainable.

After many tests (some better than others....) the results were great!

Day 10 - Publication and Handover!

The teams hard efforts came together today! We pulled together the final publication document and issued all our work to the collaborators for immediate use in Lindow Moss! A great two weeks!
