Group 28
TEA AND TALES

@The Grange is a large community hub in Blackpool focused on enhancing the wellbeing of local residents through group social activities, as well as mental, physical, and educational support. Join us and the community in the exciting redesign of the café and library spaces into a seamless, flowing, and comfortable environment that integrates with the vibrant outdoor community. Our main objective is to create a high-quality, low-cost space accessible to everyone, regardless of age or background. We will produce visual outputs, including conceptual diagrams, technical drawings, and renderings, to provide the community with a comprehensive view of the space’s potential.

Hello! We are Group 28, we just took a train ride to visit our site, The Grange, in Blackpool. This vibrant community center can be quite busy at times. Mike, one of the staff members, guided us through the building and showed us the beautiful community garden outside, which grows veggie for the ‘Farm to Fork’ café at The Grange.

Our project focuses on renovating part of the community center to enhance the user experience. This includes three main components: integrating the café seating with the library spaces, modifying the restroom facilities, and creating connections with the outdoor areas facing the community garden. We are excited to see some amazing ideas for the design of the communal space where people can chat, relax and enjoy their time.

Hi everyone! I’m Martina, an erasmus student from the Polytechnic University of Milan, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Architecture Design. During the first three years, I developed my skills with modeling softwares, teamwork, and, of course, architectural design.

I am currently attending Atelier Continuity, as cultural heritage has always been fascinating to me.

Apart from that, I’m a huge cinema fan and am always looking forward to engaging in discussions with others to discover more perspectives and opinions.

We will be working with a community centre in Blackpool, where we are designing a merger between the library, café, and the outdoor greenery!

Afterwards, I gained several years of professional experience at an architectural design firm in Shanghai. Fueled by my passion for architecture, I pursued a Master's degree in Architecture and Adaptive Reuse, focusing on how historic buildings can be revitalized and given new life.

I am excited to collaborate with The Grange. @TheGrange in Blackpool is a large community hub located on the Grange Park estate. Our project will involve transforming the existing indoor spaces while ensuring a thoughtful connection with the outdoor garden. I believe my diverse academic and professional background will contribute unique perspectives to this project.

@TheGrange in Blackpool is a large community hub on the Grange Park estate. It has been highlighted as a centre of best practice for engaging local residents in wellbeing activity through the support provided by
the team at Groundwork.
The site includes a library, café, theatre, community farm, free to use laundrette and various meeting rooms.
Space is now at capacity and in order to deliver more activities for community benefit we want to look at reimaging underused spaces. This would include:

1) Redesigning the complex toilets and storage spaces to improve the quality of toilet facilities and create more functional community space.

2)Redesigning the open public spaces within the building providing a better flow and bringing the outdoors in. This would include design options to create a mixed library and café space and reimaging the outdoor patio space.
